Not to mention the numerous other brawlers from back in the day that I can't even recall now. I actually never played the old arcade games, but I haunted enough arcades as a kid to play an unhealthy amount of Makato Uchido's Golden Axe (1989) both on arcade machines and later on a friend's Sega Master System. I'm curious to see how the Wii U's gamepad was integrated into play. There's also Enemy Rush which puts a slim 30 seconds on the level clock and only allows time to be restored by killing baddies. They've also included some fun "House Rules" such as Unbreakable, a setting which makes all your gear, ahem, unbreakable. Besides, each of the six classes has plenty of variety, and there's a ridiculous number of foes to hack through.ĭeveloper Iron Galaxy has snazzed up the re-release with some new features like drop-in/drop-out online gameplay, leaderboards, and challenges. It plays a bit like Double Dragon, the old Ninja Turtles games, or any of the other classic NES/SEGA side-scrolling brawlers, so if you're a fan of the genre or of classic D&D, the $15 Capcom is charging for Chronicles is going to be well worth it.
